welcome to our
To master the craft of machine knitting, you have to practice, make swatches, make mistakes and practice some more. This is how you develop the muscle memory to be confident on the machine. We have planned our KALs with that in mind. You can learn the process with a group of people who are also figuring it out. Finish our classes with a valuable stack of swatches and notes which you will be able to refer to throughout your machine knitting career.
If you are interested in learning at your own pace, you may purchase our classes outright, or join our membership program to access our entire class collection.

Have you ever wondered how different patterns and textures from the patterning books were made? Why a swatch looks so different with the tuck or part buttons engaged? How to do a 3-color jacquard with a punch card? What is intarsia, anyway? This KAL will explore a wide variety of patterning techniques, and help you understand the actions that form the results.
Beginner / 8-week
Date: TBD
As a preliminary to making garments, this KAL will guide you through the techniques in shaping – making the fabric wider and narrower by putting new needles into work, and out of work. The concept and history of fashioning will be explored in detail and many ways to shape your pieces will be demonstrated.
Students will also practice transferring stitches from one needle to another to create different decorative effects fabrics. Last but not least, we will introduce the garter bar for yoke shaping and more.
Intermediate / 8-week
October 13 – December 7, 2024
Learn the basics of short rowing, then move onto the adventurous practice of creating colorblocks with short rows, and combining fairisle to create intricate patterns.
Short rows and shaping are the foundation of three-dimensional knitting, allowing you to create sock-heels, shoulder slopes, geometric shapes, sculptural fabrics, and much more. Students will get a taste of these in this guided opportunity.
This KAL will progressively get more challenging (and fun), some level of experience in fairisle knitting and shaping with transfer tool are recommended.
